Jordan Seidhom: Working hard IN Chesterfield County
Jefferson, South Carolina, native Jordan Seidhom is one of those guys born with the innate trait of hardworking tenacity. It’s something that drives him and something he thrives on, in all that he has his hands on today.
“I actually started working from the time I was old enough – if somebody would let me have a job,” he says with a laugh. “At 14 years old, I started working, and I’ve always maintained two or three jobs at the same time. I’m one of the most diligent working people you’ll meet.”
Seidhom was raised by his mother, also originally from Jefferson, and his father… the two met while on vacation in Myrtle Beach – and the rest is history.
After graduating from Central High School in 2008, Seidhom went on to earn his certification from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in 2011. His commitment to law enforcement, however, traces back to when he was only 14, working as a cadet at the Pageland Police Department, followed by full-time positions within a few different departments, including those in the sheriff’s office, K-9, and narcotics.
But, proving again Seidhom’s hardworking history of working multiple jobs, he also built a real estate company in Chesterfield County from the ground up when he was 24 years old. He sold the company this past year.
“Every one of my properties were in Chesterfield County,” says Seidhom. “And I set a goal to have 30 by the time I was 30 years old: 10 for myself, 10 for my daughter, and 10 for my son, in case they ever wanted to go into that business. But the housing market has been aggressive, so I decided it was time to sell.”
The entrepreneur, 31, also took on building a second company, Carolina Scrap, Iron and Metal, a metal recycling facility. He and his team of 30, have grown it into a multi-million dollar business. “We recycle any kind of metal you can think of, like washing machines, air conditioners, copper, anything,” says Seidhom. “I have a good group of employees and I love everybody I work with. … If you put the right people in the right places and you lead and manage them the way it should be, and actually set an example, show them how to do it, and teach them how to do it, they’ll work just as hard as you.”
And, lastly, another Seidhom’s business, Jefferson Processing, recycles everything but scrap metal, like cardboard, wood, plastic, construction debris, and more, and ships the materials directly to the mill, where it’s melted down and repurposed.
“Nothing was given to us. We built every one of these companies from the ground up”, however, no matter the success he has found, he always finds his way back to his first love: law enforcement, and he’s decided to pursue it further.
“I have seen local law enforcement managed the same way for the last 20 to 30 years, and I thought, if I could infuse change like I’ve done in business, it would help the county be a better place.
When he’s not busy, Jordan pursues another love.. flying. Loading the family up in their airplane, flying around… oftentimes ending up at their property near North Myrtle Beach airport. It’s something he enjoys and finds relaxing.
