The “Trash Bin”

“…been in your trash bin for 30 days it will be deleted forever”

By Millie The Accidental Cook

“Trash has been deleted. After it has been in your trash bin for 30 days it will be deleted forever”, and so goes the warning on my writing pages this morning in Google Drive.  That would be almost disastrous for me in writing.  Oh, how many articles are not finished, how many thoughts I have written down to save for a later date.

I began to wonder what if, what if trash that we put or allow into our minds could be put in a trash bin for 30 days, and then it would be automatically deleted after 30 days.  Now we are talking! This would be a great idea if it were to come to fruition. After 30 days we would no longer remember the snide comments of some know-it-all’ or the harsh words from a “friend”.  But then, how about those words from a caring friend that prompted us to see that maybe we were making some wrong decisions or actually participating in some activities that we shouldn’t?  Those actions of ours that weren’t appropriate. Or how about words from the Bible when they lay heavy on our mind.  The words that keep us awake at night maybe because we don’t want to deal with it.

The message I received this morning when I opened my “writing pages” was referring to any and all articles that I have written for the past 6 years.  It is being called well “Trash”. That trash, as they referred to it, is clogging up space, and whether it is inspirational, educational, humorous, good or bad, it is going into the trash bin and deleted forever. You see, it is just typed words on a white sheet of paper and it is taking up space, their space.

Wonder if they know that Christ does the same thing for our sins, our impure thoughts, our actions.  He gives us a choice.  He has a better time frame though. He deletes it forever, right then, the second we take His hand, the offer, His offer, He takes our trash and remembers it no more.

He goes further, He wants that “trash”.  For me and my writings, I have to print them all so that I can keep them (6 years of writings). To them it is just space, to Him He wants to take the trash that we give Him, and then He will give us so much more. I am so thankful that He took mine many years ago.

I didn’t start out this morning with this article in mind.  It is getting close to that holiday called “Thanksgiving” and I wanted to share with you my recipe for “fried” apples.  Some weeks ago while my Mister and I were watching an old western movie, one of the characters mentioned “fried apples”.  I don’t remember ever having heard of “fried” apples and stated that to my Mister in a question. “Why sure”, he said, “Grandma used to cook them all the time”.

After finding a recipe and making some changes “fried” apples were on our menu that Sunday for lunch.  You will just have to try them.  They were so good that a lot of us wanted to “lick the bowl”. These would be so perfect with the Thanksgiving meal.  They were perfect served with pork loin over brown rice, green beans, and rolls.

ANOTHER RECIPE BY MILLIE

MILLIE’S VERSION – FRIED APPLES

  • 6 large Granny Smith apples
  • 1/2 cup of margarine
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • Two tablespoons of ground cinnamon

Wash, peel and core apples, then cut into slices. Melt the margarine in a saucepan, add sugar and cinnamon; blend thoroughly; add apples. Cook on medium for approximately 10 minutes… so, so easy!

Note:  I saved my apple peels and cores (sprinkle with fruit fresh) for a delightful jar of homemade apple jelly. If you don’t have time for it, add some sugar water to it and put in the freezer until… it’s worth it.
